Color gamuts of acrylic paints generated by paint mixing and varnishing is introduced. A colorant data including unit k, unit s, and Saunderson coefficients, K1 and K2, are optimized. The simulation result of paint gamut rendering contradicts a belief of color mixing theory that yellow, blue, and red primaries produces any green. In addition, a statistic gloss model shows that varnishing makes observers perceive color gamut expanded in correspond with the increase of gloss level. Biography He earned a B.E. in Electronics from Doshisha University (Japan) in 1997. He worked for Dai Nippon Printing Co. Ltd. as an engineer of color management system for four years. Since 2003, he has been a graduate student of Munsell Color Science Laboratory at Rochester Institute of Technology.
